2007 SANDY CITY ART GALA RULES

RECEIVING: Monday, October 15, 9 AM - 3:30 PM at Sandy Senior Center, 9310 S 1300 E, Sandy, Utah

GALA RECEPTION: By invitation only on Wednesday, October 17, 6:00 � 8:00 P.M.

 

PUBLIC VIEWING: October 18-20, 8 AM- 8PM

Art Categories.  Two- and Three- Dimensional, original art, executed in watercolor, oil/acrylic, glass, clay, metal, stone or wood sculpture and wheel thrown pottery, will be selected by the Selection Committee to be juried and placed in the exhibit

Selection Criteria. Art will be selected for originality and compliance with the Show Rules. Items exhibited may not violate any local, state or federal law, including those governing pornography, libel, copyright, privacy and/or publicity. Two-dimensional entries must be framed with wire hangers. Accepted sculptures will be displayed on tables or pedestal.

Originality:   The Exhibitor must warrant that the items exhibited are original in design composition, not done in any class or workshop, nor copied from reference material which was not created by the exhibitor, and to which the exhibitor is entitled copyright protection.  

Entry Fees:  A $25 entry fee will accompany the first submitted piece, followed by $15 for each additionally work. The exhibitor should be aware that the payment of the entry fee does not guarantee selection. High School students may enter one (1) piece without charge.

Physical Dimensions.  Two-dimensional art shall not exceed 30x30 inches, including the frame. Three-dimensional art is limited to 30x30x48 in height including the protective covering.

Safety and Liability: Exhibit rooms will be locked after working hours, and monitored by electronic alarm system. Sandy Senior Center staff and volunteers will monitor exhibits to assure safety of the exhibited art. Staff at the Reception Desk of the Center will monitor the removal of art. All works will be handled, and exhibited at the full liability of the artist.

Awards: 1st, 2nd, and a Merit Award will be given in two- and three-dimensional categories. A special �Best of Show� award will also be given for one best artwork in the exhibit.

Art Sales:  Artists who wish to sell their art during the exhibit must assign a sales price, including a sales tax, to their work. Payments for purchased art will be made directly to the artists. Artists will be responsible for payment of any sales tax. Sandy City will collect no commission on sales; however, a charitable donation to the Sandy Senior Center will be appreciated.

Agreement: The Exhibitor must execute an agreement with the City that the City and the news media shall have the right to photograph, film, and/or videotape any or all of the items exhibited for purposes of publicizing the exhibition and keeping a historical record of the exhibition

Pick Up:  All art must remain in the exhibit until 7 p.m. October 20, 2007. Artists may pick up their works from 9 am- 4 pm on Monday, October 22 or, if otherwise arranged, with one of the organizers.
